Well, spectators, this is it, the final issue for 2022.
I haven’t really had time to take stock yet, I’ve been too busy covering council meetings and tying up a few loose ends, to wit: I checked with Jennifer Stairs, acting executive director/director of communications with the Nova Scotia Judiciary, who told me there has been nothing filed in relation to ACOA vs Ben Eoin Golf Club Ltd since August.
I asked because of persistent rumors the lawsuit has been settled. Stairs says:
Typically, if a matter is settled, the plaintiff would file a Notice of Discontinuance with the court to indicate the matter won’t be going forward.
No such notice has been filed but, dear readers, I will continue to monitor the situation in 2023.
I also ran across this very funny summary of the SEC’s case against the social media influencers it says were pumping and dumping stocks—including Torchlight, a story I covered last week. The commentator is Patrick Boyle. He’s a “fund manager, academic and author” but more importantly, he’s really, really funny. Sadly, he doesn’t get into any details of the particular stocks involved in this alleged scam, but his takedown of the internet stock “gurus” is spot on. Think of it as my gift to you:
And that’s it for me for 2022—I’ll be taking the next two weeks off. I have a bunch of Christmas chocolate that is not going to eat itself and a pile of books I’ve been meaning to get to since at least 2021.
I wish you all the happiest of holidays and I look forward to speaking with you again in the New Year!
Slàinte!
