What’s Left In The Assumption Fund? We Know!

I submitted a Freedom of Information/Protection of Privacy (FOIPOP) request to the Port of Sydney Development Corporation to ask for an account balance from the assumption fund — the trust containing monies left over from the 2012 Sydney harbor dredge.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive the information from Port CEO Marlene Usher directly and promptly and free of charge, negating the necessity for the FOIPOP (and reminding me of the first rule of FOIPOPs, which is “try asking for the information”).

While I’m still skeptical about the decision to spend these monies on “business development,” I’m not going to let that spoil this rare moment of transparency and accountability in the CBRM.
